Baghdad, Oct 7 (IANS/EFE) At least eight Shia militia volunteers from the Peace Brigades, affiliated with the powerful cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, were killed and 10 were injured in a suicide bombing in Iraq Tuesday.
A suicide bomber, driving a military vehicle stolen from the Iraqi armed forces, attacked a group of Peace Brigades members in the northern Iraqi province of Saladin of the Wadi al Rusasi area, 15 km north of Samarra city, a security source said.
Some of the injured are in serious condition, the source said.
Peace Brigades was formed by volunteers who answered the call to defend Shia religious shrines against attacks by the Islamic State (IS) Sunni radical group.
