A suspect has confessed in court to murdering Bangladeshi blogger Ananta Bijoy Das in Sylhet district earlier this year, a media report said on Thursday.
Secular blogger Ananta Bijoy Das, who worked for a bank, was the third of the four bloggers hacked to death this year. On May 12, four assailants murdered the blogger in broad daylight in Sylhet's Subidbazar, bdnews24 reported.
Das was an activist of the Ganajagaran Mancha, a forum demanding a ban on religion-based parties and maximum penalty for convicted war criminals.
Mannan Yahia gave his confessional statement to Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Anwarul Hakim on Wednesday, a senior police official said.
Yahia and his brother Mohaimin Noman were arrested on August 28.
Police said Yahia had been posting on Facebook against bloggers using different profiles.
Meanwhile, another man named Abul Khayer was arrested on Wednesday for his involvement in the murder.
