In yet another security scare, a young man was cornered by security forces at a barricade near the Pathankot air base on Wednesday evening when he tried to jump over the barrier with a bag on his shoulder.
Armed security personnel, with their automatic weapons pointed towards the man, ordered him to lie down on the ground. His bag was placed on one side. NSG and Punjab Police commandos immediately arrived at the scene.
The bearded man, who was wearing a black jacket, initially did not heed the orders of the security personnel not to cross the barricade.
The incident took place at a barricade put up by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the past five days, ahead of which no unauthorised person is being allowed to go towards the air base. Media personnel have been stationed at the same spot since Saturday.
Terrorists, suspected to be from Pakistan, had launched a pre-dawn attack on the air base on Saturday. Seven security personnel and six terrorists were killed in the incident.
