A 60-year-old rickshaw puller was killed while two others were injured after being hit by a SUV in Delhi, police said Thursday.
The accident took place 11.15 p.m. Wednesday.
A speeding Tata Safari went out of control and rammed into three rickshaw pullers who were standing on the roadside near Shanti Van in central Delhi's Daryaganj area.
People at the spot informed police and rushed the three to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan hospital, where Munna was declared brought dead, while Munna Tiwari and Jung Bahadur suffered severe injuries.
Police said driver Satya Prakash, 37, who was under the influence of alcohol was arrested from the spot.
"The car owner's son was also there in an inebriated state, and both of them were going to their house in west Delhi's Rohini area after meeting a relative in central Delhi," a police official said.
In a similar incident Aug 17, a 30-year-old man was arrested for running his vehicle over 13 labourers sleeping on a road divider in east Delhi, killing one of them.
