Suzlon crosses 150 MW capacity mark in Andhra

Suzlon, India's largest wind turbine manufacturer, installed over 115 MW over the last nine months, accounting for 60 percent of the total installations of 190 MW over the same period in the state.

The company statement said it contributed 233 million units of electricity to the state grid at the end of 2012.

"Suzlon, with its superior technology suitable for wind regimes in this region, can contribute hugely towards the state's endeavour of creating a low carbon, green economy," said Kamlakar Babu, vice chairman and managing director, New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited.

The state crossed a cumulative of 470 MW of wind installations in 2012. The state also announced a landmark new tariff regime for renewable energy at Rs.4.70 per unit, laying the foundations for accelerated growth, investment and job creation.
