In its ongoing drive to recover rebel-held territory, the Syrian army on Sunday recaptured a military base that had fallen to the rebels in Aleppo province, an official said.
The army recaptured the Armament College in Aleppo, continuing to advance in that area to lay a nearly full siege on the rebels, Xinhua news agency reported.
The military college had fallen to the rebels last month as part of a wide-scale rebel offensive aimed at breaking the government troops' imposed siege on rebel-held areas east of Aleppo.
The rebels managed to open a narrow route into eastern Aleppo following their attack, prompting the government forces to unleash a broad offensive to recapture the fallen bases and re-impose the siege on eastern Aleppo.
