West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Saturday said the "blow hot, blow cold" ties between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP was a tacit understanding to prevent a central agency probe into the Saradha scam.

A day after BJP president Rajnath Singh assured a special economic package for Bengal if his party came to power at the Centre, Chowdhury said the Trinamool and the BJP's war of words is more of playing to the gallery.

"Besides the economic package, the deal between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP is that if the BJP comes to power, it will ensure there is no probe by the CBI or ED into the Saradha scam," said Chowdhury.

He also claimed two Trinamool Congress MPs have been frequenting Rajnath Singh's residence in their bid to ensure there is no probe by central agencies in the scam.

Hours later, chief minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee while addressing a rally in the city rubbished the claims of an alliance with the BJP.

"Malicious lies are being peddled as truth. They are using bad language against us, but we are not retaliating. We will never, ever form an alliance with the BJP," said Banerjee.
