It's a known fact that Indians love eating and a survey conducted by Foodpanda.in reveals that orders double over the weekend in the country.

The online food ordering website recently conducted a survey on the online food ordering trends in the country and it threw up interesting facts like the most preferred cuisine and the sales percentage.

Almost 50-55 percent of orders are placed during the weekend.

Some of the other key findings of the survey show that almost 59 percent of the people ordering online are in the age group of 25 years to 34 years out of which 21 percent are women. Indian and Chinese cuisines are the most desired options for dinner.

The survey reveals Indians love to order pizzas during the weekends. Dal makhani and chicken biryani too are the weekend favourites.

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays lead with maximum sales over the other days with take away orders on high.

"With the increase in the disposable income of the youth in India, an increasing number of people today like to explore the vast choice of cuisines available at the click of a button.

"Besides, working professionals don't have the time to go out to a restaurant for lunch, so they choose to order their food sitting at their desk online, Rohit Chadda, co-founder and managing director, Foodpanda.in, said in a statement.

Chadda said that the trend indicates that professionals prefer home delivery option as they want to enjoy it in the comfort of their houses, especially in metropolitan cities.

The orders through the website and apps double over the weekend as compared to the rest of the week.
