Expressing serious concern over growing 'hate crimes' against Indians in the US, the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Tuesday said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government should take up the issue with American administration.
Referring to the attacks on Indians, including the murder of Hyderabad engineer Srinivas Kuchibhotla in Kansas city, the CPI blamed US President Donald Trump's executive orders for the rise of the racist attacks.
"There is a widespread genuine feeling among the immigrant communities in the US and their kith and kin outside US, that President Donald Trump's executive orders including one on denying visas to other nationals are resulting in increased attacks on the immigrants," the party said in a statement here.
"The government of India should take up the issue with the US government," it added.
"Racism should be fought unitedly by all the democratic-minded people. It is high time that the US government takes stern action on the perpetrators of racist hatred with determination," the party said.
