External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday hoped the new dialogue starting between India and Pakistan will open a new chapter of peace and development in the region.

Making a statement on her visit to Pakistan amid a din in the Rajya Sabha, the minister said India has emphasised on speeding up the judicial process in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

"We emphasised on speeding up the judicial process in the Mumbai terror attack case... The Pakistani side assured us of the steps being taken to find a conclusion to the case soon," Sushma Swaraj said in her statement in Hindi.

The minister said it has been decided that a comprehensive bilateral dialogue will be started, the outline of which will be drawn by foreign secretaries.

"This government gives highest importance to national security and for that we will take all steps, including diplomatic ones. Our government is also committed to peaceful relations with all neighbours including Pakistan," she said in her statement which was partially audible due to disruptions.

The minister said there are two aims of the dialogue: addressing the issues of concern through dialogue and establishing cooperative relation.

"We hope new dialogue will start a new chapter of peace and development in the region," she said.
