Of the 399 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu stranded in Uttarakhand following floods and landslides, 275 were flown to Delhi, a official statement said Saturday.

They have been accomodated in Tamil Nadu House here and have been given food and medical assistance, the statement added. They will be flown back to Chennai.

A team of Tamil Nadu government officials are in Haridwar since Thursday to coordinate with the Uttarakhand government to find out the whereabouts of the other 124 pilgrims from the southern state.

A helpline (011-24193455, 011-24193456) has been activated in Tamil Nadu House here and a tollfree number (1070) in Chennai to assist family members of the pilgrims.

Over 69,000 people were rescued in Uttarakhand after heavy rains and cloudburst triggered landslides and flash floods. Hundreds of people were killed and over 30,000 are still stranded.
