Over 700 taxi drivers in China's Wuhan city staged a strike to protect against Uber-like car services such as Didi Kuaidi, a media report said.

The drivers were seen driving vacant taxis in queues along the main streets in the downtown area, causing traffic dislocation on Monday, the People's Daily reported.

One taxi driver said that they were staging the strike to protest against Uber-like private car services such as Didi Kuaidi because of "unfair competition".

The report added that the local government did not intervene in the strike and allowed the taxi drivers to carry on with the protest peacefully.
