TCS sets up new software business unit

Indian IT bellwether Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Tuesday said it has set up a new business unit to transform digital commerce and provide customer-centric solutions to retail, communications and banking and financial services firms.

"The new digital software and solutions group will help customers in all the three verticals undergo digital transformation with our software to enhance their e-commerce capabilities and shift their product and services offerings in competitive environment," the company said in a statement here.

Noting that digital transformation was impacting almost every industry, TCS chief executive N. Chandrasekaran said the new business unit was a commitment to meet the business needs of its strategic customers, including reducing the total cost of ownership.

"The new unit will offer digital commerce and customer intelligence to enable clients transform at their pace, as the software is scalable and industry-specific to retail, communications and banking and financial services (BFSI) firms," Chandrasekaran said in the statement.

The new software also allows customers to select solutions and engagement models that fit their needs, be it a software module, a business function or digital transformation to drive results.

"The integrated solutions will reduce the cost of ownership with new business models, which are flexible and structured around a customer's consumption patterns," business unit head Seeta Hariharan said.
