Tata Consulting Services (TCS) has bagged a five-year deal from Dutch insurance firm Reaal NV to modernise its mainframe applications and service its life insurance portfolio, the IT bellwether said Wednesday.

"The five-year engagement will be focused on building a scalable and best-in-class technology platform for Reaal as it is set to increase agility across its business segment," the global software major said in a statement here.

TCS, which has been present in the Netherlands and Benelux region since 1992, has invested in the market to deliver consistent results to its customers. The Benelux operations comprise about 5,000 techies working across the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

"Across the insurance sector, there is a growing need to provide flexible parameters in line with business portfolio. As a strategic partner, we will help Reaal to increase productivity and operational efficiencies across its business," TCS Benelux director Amit Kapur said in the statement.

TCS was recently ranked first for customer satisfaction in a European-wide survey of service provider performance by Whitelane Research firm.

"Developing a high level of operational and flexibility along with decreasing costs is critical for our business. TCS' track record in our industry and its ability to build strong client relationships make it ideally suited to help us on this journey," Reaal director for system development Marcel van de Lustgraaf said on the occasion.

The insurance firm is a part of SNS Reaal, an innovative service provider in banking and insurance that focuses on the Dutch retail market, including small and medium enterprises.
