A retired mathematics teacher from Delhi committed suicide at a hotel here by electrocuting himself, police said on Wednesday.

Jagdish Raj Sethi, 65, was a resident of Kalkaji in Delhi and a live wire was found attached to his 'kadha', police said.

He left behind a suicide note asking police not to hand over his body to his son.

He also left behind a sealed envelope for his daughter, who arrived late in the evening from Delhi.

In his suicide note, he also asked police not to harass the hotel staff.

Sethi used to conduct private tuitions at home.

Inspector Gyanendra Sirohi told IANS that family members had indicated he did not have good relations with his son and daughter in law.

Hotel manager Santosh Khanna told police that Sethi checked in on Monday (June 8) evening. On Tuesday morning, he had his tea and breakfast.

"Around 3 p.m. I rang him to shift his car from the way, but the phone was connected to his daughter who said her father was missing. As soon as she got to learn from me about his location, she left with her husband for Agra," Khanna said.

"Around 8 p.m. we opened the door of the room with the duplicate key and he lay dead there," he said.
