An 18-year-old was arrested on Saturday in connection with the terror attack on a London Tube train that left 29 people injured.

The youth was detained in the port area of Dover by Kent Police over the Friday morning rush hour attack at the Parsons Green station in southwest London, BBC reported.

The man, whose identity and nationality have not been disclosed, was charged under section 41 of the Terrorism Act, with an act of terror, officials said. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.

Metropolitan Police Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said the arrest was "significant", but the terror threat level remains at "critical".

"We have made a significant arrest in our investigation this morning. Although we are pleased with the progress made, this investigation continues and the threat level remains at critical (highest)", Basu said.

London's Parsons Green tube station was re-opened after the homemade explosive, inside a white bucket, failed to fully detonate on a District line convoy during London's morning rush hour.

"The public should remain vigilant as our staff, officers and partners continue to work through this complex investigation.

"For strong investigative reasons we will not give any more details on the man we arrested at this stage," Basu added.

British Police stated they had already interviewed 45 witnesses regarding Friday's terror incident.
