A teenage girl in West Bengal's Durgapur town allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday afternoon over relationship issues, police said.
"Puja Dhibar, 19, a student of second year in Durgapur government college allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself. Her body was recovered from her residence in Durgapur's Benachity area at around 1 p.m.," said the office in charge of Durgapur police station.
Police said the girl might have committed suicide over relationship disputes though nothing was confirmed by her family.
"The deceased was unmarried. However, there was a mark of vermilion on her forehead that is traditionally seen among married women. It is possible that the girl had relationship issues that impelled her to commit suicide," the officer said.
"The body of the girl has been sent for autopsy. The family members would be interrogated to know if the girl was depressed for some reason," he added.
