Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday paid tributes to three policemen who laid down their lives while fighting gangsters in the last three days.
The chief minister also hailed four brave policemen who were injured in two separate incidents in Nalgonda district.
A police constable and two gangsters were killed in a gunfight near Janakipur in Mothkur mandal of Nalgonda district on Saturday.
Two police officers were also injured in the incident.
Earlier, the same gangsters had gunned down two policemen and injured two others at Suryapet in the same district early Thursday. The assailants opened fire when policemen were questioning them at a bus station.
The chief minister, in a statement, said the policemen were discharging their duties with courage to tackle the anti-social elements.
Rao said the state government would deal firmly with the anti-social elements. He promised all help to the families of the deceased and injured policemen.
