Congress MP Shashi Tharoor will call on Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang during his visit to Beijing for the second 'Understanding China' conference on November 1-4.
Tharoor will be joining the conference in his capacity as a member of 21st Century Council and the chairman of the External Affairs Committee of India's parliament, an official said.
The conference under the patronage of 21st Century Council, China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs and Beijing Municipal People's Government is aimed at fostering dialogue and understanding of China's politics and culture.
Members of 21st Century Council include eminent political and industry leaders from across the globe like former British premier Gordon Brown, former Italy prime minister Mario Monti, political scientist Francis Fukuyama, economist Larry Summers and Google's Eric Shmidt.
