Gurgaon police arrested a 26-year-old Delhi-based man, who stole luxury cars to buy sophisticated weapons to avenge the killing of his brother-in-law, said a senior officer on Monday.
Umesh Rathi alias Monty, a resident of south Delhi's Raj Nagar area, was arrested by the crime branch of Gurgaon police on a tip-off from near Bakhtawar Chowk here when he was driving a stolen Honda City car.
Monty told police that he wanted to avenge his brother-in-law's murder, nearly a year ago over a property dispute. Two other stolen luxury cars were also recovered from his house. Police said that he used to sell stolen cars in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh.
He has been declared a listed "bad character" by Delhi Police. He was on Monday sent to judicial custody for 14 days by a district court here.
