Rosy Feroor, the third accused in the rape and human trafficking of a minor involving a sitting Goa legislator, surrendered before the Crime Branch on Saturday.
Feroor has been accused by the victim of selling her off in March to unattached legislator Atanasio Monserrate for Rs.50 lakh in connivance with the minor girl's mother.
Monserrate and the victim's mother were arrested on Thursday and subsequently remanded to three days in police custody. Feroor, who was missing since the first information report was lodged by the Goa Police Crime Branch on Wednesday night, surrendered earlier today.
"She surrendered before the Crime Branch today around noon," a senior police official told IANS on condition of anonymity. Sources said that she was likely to be arrested and sent for medical examination later in the day.
Monserrate has been booked under sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 328 (causing hurt), 370 (detaining against will), 376 (rape) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Goa Children's Act, while the victim's mother has been booked for human trafficking and criminal conspiracy.
