Three people were arrested for cheating several unemployed people on the pretext of getting them government jobs, police said Monday.

Following a complaint made July 26, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested Naresh Kumar, Shailesh Kumar Dubey and Vikas Mittal from Delhi's Netaji Subhash Place market complex.

"A total of 2,381 copies of fake written test results of Food Corporation of India (FCI) for the posts of supervisors, clerks and peons were recovered from them," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.

Police also recovered some fake appointment letters of the State Bank of India, FCI and the agriculture department.

The accused contacted the complainant, Sunil Kumar, and offered him a job in the railways for Rs.6 lakh per person.

"Sunil told his relatives about the offer. He collected Rs.4 lakh each from 10 people and gave it to the accused in Connaught Place. Later, the accused contacted Kumar again and offered more jobs," said Yadav.

"Sunil again collected Rs.1.45 lakh from five boys and paid the money to the accused. After 25 days, two of the accused told him to take the boys to Kolkata for recruitment," said the officer.

Kumar took the boys to Kolkata, where their physical measurement was done at a purported Reserve Police Force (RPF) camp and medical test at a railway hospital.

"After the medical test, the victims were given appointment letters and asked to join after one week. On the joining day, the complainant tried to contact the accused but their mobile phones were switched off. The victims returned to Delhi and tried to trace the accused but could not," said the officer.

During interrogation, the accused said they had cheated many people using the same modus operandi.

"Another four accused are on the run. Efforts are on to arrest them," added the officer.
