Three people, including two CRPF troopers, died and four others sustained injuries in a road accident in West Bengal's Darjeeling district while they were returning after Sunday's assembly polls, officials said on Monday.
Polling official Vishnu Rawat, an employee of the Central Bank of India (Mirik branch), was killed in the accident in Relling Pulbazar area on Sunday night, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dibyendu Sarkar said.
CRPF trooper Narayan Chandra Pradhan, who hailed from Odisha's Jajpur, was also killed. Details about the other deceased trooper was not immediately available, the official said.
One of the injured, the driver of the vehicle, was hospitalised in a critical condition.
Election Commission officials on Monday held a video conference with all observers and senior police officers to review the poll preparedness for the third phase on April 21.
