Three people were killed and two injured when a car being used in a wedding fell into a reservoir in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Friday.
The accident happened at about 10 a.m. when the car slipped into the Sikouzi Reservoir in Haiyuan county, killing the driver, the bride and the bride's grandmother, Xinhua reported.
Two other passengers were rescued from the 20 metre deep reservoir by local people, according to a police official.
Initial investigation attributed the accident to ice on the road, caused by two days of snowfall.
Snow started to fall Tuesday in various regions including Ningxia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei and Henan, according to the National Meteorological Centre.
Snow in these regions could be as deep as 16 cm, it said.
