Three killed in Kashmir guerrilla attack

A civilian and two policemen were killed in a guerrilla attack Wednesday in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, an official said.

A police vehicle was attacked by militants in Pampore town, 14 km from Srinagar, a police officer told IANS.

"A passer-by and two policemen were killed in this attack. Reinforcements have been rushed to the spot to trace the militants," the officer said.

The dead were identified as head constable Mohd. Yaqoob, constable Mehrajuddin, and Manzoor Ahmed Qasab, a resident of Awantipora town.

Seven Border Security Force (BSF) troopers, including an assistant commandant, were injured in Pampore town when guerrillas attacked their vehicle Aug 11.
