Three-tier security for Delhi polls

Paramilitary and Delhi Police personnel will comprise a three-layered security at election booths here Dec 4.

Around 70,000 personnel, including from the Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), have been deputed for the elections. A total of 400 companies of Delhi Police are being deployed.

"Delhi Police personnel will be deployed 200 metres from the booths while paramilitary forces will be deployed in and outside the booths. Every voter will have to pass through door-frame metal detectors," a police official told IANS.

Delhi has 11,763 polling stations, of which 630 have been declared sensitive.

"We will keep special watch on the sensitive booths. Local police stations have been asked to remain alert throughout the day," the official said.

Voting will start at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.

The number of police pickets have been increased on the Delhi borders. On the election day, vehicle checks will be increased.
