An early morning thunderstorm and intermittent showers Thursday brought the winter chill to Chandigarh and its surrounding areas.
Met officials here said that rain lashed Chandigarh and its surrounding areas, many parts of Punjab and some parts of Haryana.
They said the rains were due to a weather disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir. The weather is likely to remain the same for the next 24 hours, Met officials added.
Rainfall was also reported in Mohali, Ludhiana, Patiala, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Nawanshahr and Ropar districts in Punjab.
