Tokyo shares ended almost flat in the morning session on Friday as investors remained cautious ahead of the monthly US jobs data to be released later in the day.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 3.56 points (0.02 percent) from Thursday to 17,725.98, reported Xinhua news agency.
However, the broader Topix index of all first section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange edged down 0.29 point (0.02 percent) to 1,442.45.
