Tokyo stocks advance on US shares' rally

Tokyo stocks advanced in early trading on Friday as investor sentiment was bolstered by the US shares closing higher overnight and a recovery in oil prices.

As of 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 10.11 points, or 0.06 percent, from Thursday to 17,051.56, Xinhua news agency reported.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 5.46 points, or 0.39 percent, at 1,397.56.

Early gainers comprised mining, oil and coal products, and foods-linked issues.
