Tokyo shares gained in early trading on Friday as a comparatively weak yen spurred buying of export-related issues.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 126.35 points (0.66 percent) from Thursday to 19,242.76 points on Friday, Xinhua news agency reported.
the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 7.48 points (0.48 percent) to 1,562.58.
Among notable early advancers were glass and ceramics, and construction and utilities related issues.
