Tokyo stocks rebounded 0.4 percent in Wednesday's morning session after China's central bank cut interest rates on Tuesday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 70.79 points from Tuesday to end the morning at 17,877.49, reported Xinhua news agency.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 18.81 points, or 1.31 percent, to 1,451.46.
Gainers were led by utilities, insurance and electric machinery issues.
