A delegation from the New Delhi Traders Association and the Delhi Rajya Vyapar Sangathan called on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat on Wednesday, said an official statement.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to the chief minister on eviction of old commercial tenants in Delhi and property tax being charged as a part of rent.
The memorandum stated that old commercial tenants who have paid advance money (Pugree) were facing eviction and that was forcing them to close down their establishments. In turn, people were being rendered jobless.
The delegation also demanded a clarification on one of the sections of the NDMC Act, 1994, in connection with realising property tax from tenants.
The chief minister assured the delegation of looking into the matter and doing whatever was possible. He also told them that he will talk to the concerned officials and enquire about the issues raised by them.
