A traffic police volunteer on Friday accused Trinamool Congress's Rajya Sabha member Dola Sen of threatening to slap him after he "dared" to stop her car for a traffic violation. The trade union leader has rubbished the charge.

According to Bibhas Roy, a civic police volunteer, the alleged incident occurred at Chinar Park-Newtown Crossing in the city's satellite township Salt Lake area after he stopped Sen's car for trying to go through the wrong side of the road.

"When I stopped the car and told the driver that he can't take the car through this way, he said can't you see it's a MP's car. To which, I said MP's car doesn't mean it can violate traffic rules," Roy said.

"Hearing this, Sen rolled down the windowpane and accused me of abusing her. She asked me to do sit-ups holding my ears, and threatened to slap me if I didn't," alleged Roy.

"She orderdd my senior officer to make me do the sit-ups. Otherwise she would slap me," added the police volunteer.

Sen, however, denied any such incident.

"These are all wild allegations. No such incident has happened. My car did not violate any traffic rules," Sen told IANS.

Earlier in February 2012, a first information report (FIR) was lodged against Sen for slapping a traffic personnel who had stopped a vehicle for violating traffic rules.

That incident happened at the Dakshineswar toll plaza when a private guard hired by the National Highway Authority of India stopped a truck ferrying goods to the residence of a Trinamool leader.
