Ailing Trinamool MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay, an accused in the Rose Valley chit fund scam, was on Wednesday shifted to the state-run SSKM Hospital from the private Apollo Hospital, with his lawmaker wife claiming the step was taken to reduce the cost of treatment.
Bandopadhyay, who got conditional bail on health grounds from the Orissa High Court in scam on Friday, was discharged two days later from the Apollo Hospital in Bhubaneswar and flown to Kolkata.
The same day, he was admitted to the Apollo Hospital in Kolkata for treatment.
"We had to transfer him because he was in Apollo Hospital for long. And the treatment there is very costly," said wife Nayana Bandyopadhyay.
A three-member medical team has been formed at SSKM for Bandyopadhyay's treatment.
Bandyopadhyay has pancreatitis as also cardiac issues.
