Trinamool Congress MP Kapil Krishna Thakur Monday passed away at a city nursing home. He was 73.
Thakur, who represented Bangaon Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, had been suffering from a lung infection.
Party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid her last respect to Thakur describing his demise as a great loss to the Matua sect of Hindus.
The elder son of Binapani Debi Thakurani (Baroma), the leader of Matua community, Thakur was also a member of the Standing Committee on Labour.
His last rites will be performed Wednesday.
