London, Jan 16 (IANS/CMC) Trinidad and Tobago International Kenwyne Jones is facing disciplinary action for failing to turn up for Stoke City's game against Liverpool Sunday.

Stoke City are set to punish Jones with a fine of two weeks' wages - worth an estimated £60,000 - for his absence.

Manager Mark Hughes demanded an explanation from the forward Monday afternoon.

Media reports have quoted Jones as saying "personal problems" were the reason for his non-appearance.

The Daily Mail has reported that the Trinidad and Tobago senior team captain sent a text message to the Stoke manager that he was unavailable to play against Liverpool.

The dispute between Stoke and Jones has occurred at a time when the 29-year-old footballer's future with the club appears increasingly uncertain.
