In line with the Central government's decision to reduce petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2.5 per litre, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Tripura government on Thursday also cut taxes on petrol and diesel by Rs 2.5 per litre, an official said.
"Responding to the Union government's appeal to the states to reduce VAT on transport fuel, Tripura government has cut the state taxes by Rs 2.5 per litre on both petrol and diesel," an official of the Chief Minister's secretariat told IANS.
He said after the reduction in taxes by the state, people of Tripura would get a total benefit of Rs 5 per litre on the prices of petrol and diesel.
