Following assurances from Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday, associations of truckers and oil tanker owners called off their strike to resume fuel supplies to the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday.
A joint delegation of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), Jammu Transporters Union and Oil Tanker Owners Association called on Mehbooba Mufti here on Monday evening to discuss various issues confronting them in view of the prevailing disturbances in Kashmir.
The delegation was led by JCCI President Rakesh Gupta.
Responding to the security concerns raised by the Oil Tankers Association, the Chief Minister assured them of adequate security and asked them to immediately resume fuel supplies to Kashmir.
The Oil Tanker Owners Association went on strike on Saturday following mob attacks on oil tanker drivers and cleaners.
The Oil Tanker Owners Association was told that the state government would provide them special helpline numbers so that they can immediately get in touch with the authorities in case of any emergency.

Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Navin Kumar Choudhary, was also present at the meeting.
With the truckers and oil tankers owners associations deciding to resume supplies to the Kashmir Valley, an impending supplies crisis has been averted.
