Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Monday spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on telephone and agreed to present the proposals of the Greek government for an agreement at the European leaders' summit on Tuesday.

Tsipras spoke with Merkel, interrupting a meeting with leaders of Greece's largest political parties convened by President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, ANA-MPA news agency reported.

The meeting ended after a seven-hour marathon session. Prime Minister Tsipras did not speak to media as he headed straight to the government headquarters in the Maximos Mansion after.

However, other party leaders emerging from the meeting said the opposition parties have agreed to support the government in the negotiations.

Earlier in the day, Eurogroup finance ministers had asked Greece to come up with new proposals. A European summit meeting is scheduled to be held in Brussels after the Eurogroup meeting on Tuesday.

"I take note of the outcome of the Greek referendum. This result is very regrettable for the future of Greece," Jeroen Dijsselbloem, head of the Eurogroup of finance ministers, tweeted on Sunday after the result of the Greek referendum.
