Social media giant Facebook has announced it will soon roll out a feature that lets a user turn off disturbing notifications as they use "Live Video" feature on its platform.

Although the social media giant witnessed a sharp increase in live streaming since it opened its "Live Video" feature earlier this year, some of the users reported problems of constantly being bugged by notifications of live streaming videos by Pages they have "Liked".

That is good for the Page owners but users have no way to turn off notifications when a company or friend starts to broadcast.

According to Facebook, the users will not be inundated with the alerts by default for much longer as the ability to turn off Live Video notifications is on the way "soon", the tech website Engadget reported.

"We have heard from people that they don't want to miss live videos from the people or Pages they care about, so we may send a notification if someone you've recently interacted with is going live, in case you want to tune in," a Facebook spokesperson was quoted as saying.

"However, we know people want more control over the live notifications they receive, so we're working on improving this experience. We are starting to roll out a new setting that lets people turn off all live notifications, through their Notifications settings, that will be available to all people soon," the spokesperson added.

Instead of the notification bar, the Live videos will sit atop the News Feed.

For turning this feature on, the user can click the "Live Subscribe" button on a video and turn off the notifications.

However, this only works for that page whereas the update will allow you to turn off the alerts for all Live Videos.
