At least four people were killed and 28 others wounded on Tuesday in twin blasts in Syria's central city of Homs, media reported.
Two booby-trapped motorcycles blew up in Wadi Adhab area and Arman districts, both largely inhabited by minority Alawites, an offshoot of Shia Islam, to which the ruling elite in Syria belongs, Xinhua news agency reported citing the state-run SANA news aervice.
Citing a source in Homs, SANA said government-run hospitals were treating those injured in the blasts, most of whom women and children.
Homs Governor Talal Barazi said the blasts "expose the criminal and dark mentality of those carrying out the explosions".
Barazi stressed that the Syrian army would continue to fight against terrorist groups.
Rebels have repeatedly targeted government-controlled areas in Homs with booby-trapped cars and suicide bombings.
A bombing attack last October near an elementary school in Homs killed at least 32 people, including 10 children.
