Two persons were arrested for killing a deer in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district on Monday, police said.
Amit Kumar Singh, an employee with the civil court in Hazaribagh and businessman Radhe Shyam Singh were arrested when a police patrolling party intercepted the car in which they were travelling near Tatijharia police station close to the Hazaribagh Wildlife Sanctuary.
Police seized one rifle and 40 bullets from the car.
Police are investigating why they were carrying the dead deer, which was kept in the trunk of the Alto car. The body of the deer has been sent for post-mortem.
In Jharkhand, deer are found in large numbers in Hazaribagh and Ranchi, among other places.
