Two gangsters accused of murder and extortion were arrested here, police said Sunday.

Sanjeev, 27, and Sandeep Gulia, 28 -- both hailing from Haryana -- were arrested following a complaint by a west Delhi-based businessman Hitesh Chaudhary who was getting extortion calls from the duo.

According to police, Sanjeev is a "proclaimed offender" in two murder cases in Haryana and he, along with Gulia, had demanded Rs.50 lakh from Chaudhary Aug 14.

The police examined call details and it led them to one of the accused Sanjeev, who was arrested from west Delhi's Paschim Vihar. Gulia too was arrested from Nangloi area of west Delhi.

After sustained interrogation, Sanjeev confessed to his crime of murdering Vijay Prakash, a shopkeeper in Panipat. Prakash was an associate of one Sushil who was dating Sanjeev's sister.

"The victim (Prakash) had failed to keep Sushil away from Sanjeev's sister and was murdered by him (Sanjeev) in a fit of rage," the police said, adding that the accused also killed a man who had witnessed the murder.

Sanjeev and Gulia were also involved in a firing incident Aug 24 in the national capital in which two people had died.
