A Turkish court levelled charges of "working on behalf of a terrorist organisation" against two British reporters and their translator.

The two British journalists, Jake Hanrahan and Philip Pendlebury from "Vice News" were detained by police in Diyarbakir, south-east Turkey on Thursday, Xinhua quoted British news organisation Vice News as saying on Monday.

The trio had been in the region filming clashes between police and Kurdish militants.

The journalists' lawyer said that they were asked questions about alleged links to Islamic State (IS) and Kurdish militants. They have denied all charges.

Kevin Sutcliffe, Vice's Head of News Programming in Europe, condemned the detention of the journalists in a statement, called the charges baseless and alarmingly false.
