Two people were killed and one seriously injured in a landslide at Antop Hill in central Mumbai Wednesday morning, officials said.
A hillock on the Sheikh Mistry Dargah Road vicinity here suddenly came crashing down on five tenements of Devram Chawl situated just below.
Ramavtar P. Kewat, 47, was killed instantly while his son Sandeep, 22, succumbed to injuries in a hospital.
According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Disaster Control, four or five more people are feared trapped under the mound of earth and boulders and rescue efforts are underway.
The incident occurred around 8 a.m. when the city and suburbs were lashed by heavy rains.
Salim Sheikh, 27, was brought out alive from the debris.
