Two get bail in Syndicate Bank bribery case

A court here Tuesday granted bail to two accused allegedly involved in the Syndicate Bank bribery case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge Swarna Kanta Sharma granted bail to Arun Kumar Agarwal, an employee of Bhushan Steel, and Vijay Pahuja, a middleman.

Both were asked to furnish a personal bond of Rs.two lakh and sureties of like amount.

Three accused - Bhushan Steel vice-chairman Neeraj Singhal, Prakash Industries Limited Ved Prakash Agarwal and co-accused Pankaj Bansal- were released on bail saturday.

The judicial custody of the other arrested accused, including Syndicate Bank chairman-cum-managing director S.K. Jain, has been extended till Oct 1.

The CBI had arrested Jain Aug 2 for allegedly taking Rs.50 lakh in bribe for raising the credit limit of some companies in violation of the banking rules.
