Two guerrillas were arrested from Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore town Saturday and an AK-47 assault rifle seized from them, police said Saturday.

A police statement here said that police in Sopore received information that some unknown gunmen entered the house of Ghulam Mohiudin War, son of Mohammad Akbar War, resident of Nowpora Kalan (Sopore) with the intention to commit an offence, and a joint party of police, CRPF and the army went to the spot.

"On reaching the spot, we found that the house owner had already overpowered one of the persons - identified as Mudasir Ahmad, son of Mubarak Ahmad Shah," it said.

"On his disclosure, the joint party rushed to the house of another militant named Imran Ahmad Dar, son of Sanaullah Dar, resident of Nowpora Kalan who is the mastermind of the criminal act and he was apprehended along with AK-47 rifle and other ammunition," the statement said, adding that the other two accomplices managed to escape while taking advantage of darkness.

However, the identities have been established and a search is on.

Dar was earlier arrested, along with Pakistani terrorist Fahadullah of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, and had been released on bail recently.
