Two truck drivers and their helpers from Haryana were missing from Assam during a shutdown Aug 23, a transporter said Monday.

The truckers and their helpers hailed from Haryana's Mewat district. They went missing in Assam's capital Dispur and their vehicles were later recovered by police.

Haneef, 42, a resident of Khedla Kalan village in Mewat's Ferozpur Jhirka sub-division was the driver of an edible oil tanker and his helper was Shakir, said Rahim Khan, father of Shakir.

Truck driver Kamrudeen, 50, from Agon village in Mewat area, and his helper Mushtak Ali were also missing, he said.

Ferozpur Jhirka is some 85 km from Gurgaon city.

"Both the tankers, carrying edible oil, had left for Dispur from Rajasthan's Nadbai area in Bharatpur district Aug 16," Rahim Khan said.
