Two men were arrested and a teenager kidnapped from east Delhi for a ransom of Rs 1 crore rescued from their confinement, police said on Wednesday.
One of the kidnappers claimed a family member was involved in the crime as well.
The abduction was executed on Monday evening when the boy, aged 12, a resident of Kardampuri in West Jyoti Nagar, was returning home after tution. His father filed a police complaint on Tuesday after getting the ransom call.
"Accused Tarif, 21, works in the boy's father's factory, while his accomplice Danish, 22, is a former employee but presently works in a factory in Vishwas Nagar. They took the teenager to Panipat in Haryana and kept him there for one night. They brought him back to Delhi after making many ransom calls to his father from there," Joint Commissioner of Police Ravinder Yadav said.
The two were arrested from their hideout in east Delhi with the help of surveillance and the boy rescued.
"Tarif told police that Mohsen, a cousin brother of the victim, was the mastermind of the crime committed for easy money. He is absconding," Yadav said.
