Two leopard geckos, valued at Rs.12 lakh in the international market, were seized and one person was arrested by officials of Baikunthyapur forest division in northern West Bengal on Sunday, said Belacoba Forest range officer Sanjay Dutta.

Acting on a tip-off, forest officials, led by Dutta, challenged Kalam Ansari on National Highway 31 and seized the two geckos, a species of lizard, from his possession.

Ansari, 27, a resident of Binaguri in Jalpaiguri district, was allegedly planning to sell the two geckos to one Kumar Lama in Nepal, the officer said.
